The days before your surgery
Before you come into hospital, it’s important to remember a couple of things.
If you have been advised to stop any medications (in particular blood thinning medications) you must make sure these instructions have been followed. Some medications can be likely to affect wound healing - these should have been discussed at your clinical appointment and relevant instructions given. If you were started on any new medications , that you think may affect the surgery or if there is any doubt, please contact Mary well in advance to clarify things.
You may need to make arrangements for simple things, such as having someone stay with you for the night after the procedure or plans for washing and food in place if you are likely to be in a large confining bandage or splint after surgery.
